Camp counsellor course for teenagers
The course is run together with Time to Surf, Happy Classes and the IZUM Youth Club. Two levels: level 1 for ages 12-14 starts in October, level 2 for ages 13-16 in January. One session is 4 academic hours.
What the course covers
The foundations of pedagogy and child psychology, group dynamics, inclusion, European values, the basics of youth work, non-formal learning methods and gamification, first aid, the basics of labour law, and the ethics of being a counsellor.
Alongside these there are creative and engineering projects and sports modules — winter sports, surfing and hiking, matched to age and season.
What comes after the course
Graduates get the chance to work at camps in the 2027 season as an assistant counsellor — in a paid or a volunteer position.
